Scheuten has announced a strategic alliance with Taiwanese disc manufacturer Ritek. By combining the knowledge which Ritek has gained over the years in the Optical Media and OLED industry and Scheuten's Solar knowledge, Scheuten says this strong combination will bring solar developments to a higher platform.
Ritek will start with the production of silicon modules specially made for Scheuten still this year. The annual capacity will be 30 MW modules, manufactured under supervision of and as per specifications of Scheuten.
'This cooperation allows us to step up our production capacity very fast and gives us the opportunity to directly serve our customers in the USA, Korea and Middle East. Ritek is responsible for the production of our modules, but Scheuten will supervise their quality and supply chain', says Frans van den Heuvel, Chief Operations Officer of Scheuten.
Scheuten is also involved as a strategic shareholder of AimCore, an outstanding company involved in glass coating which spun off from Ritek in 2007 in order to facilitate development of solar glass in the future. This alliance will give Scheuten the opportunity to collaborate on other high end solar products in the near future.
Scheuten is a leading and fast growing international high volume manufacturer of total solutions in glass and solar energy systems with its head office in Venlo. Scheuten employs a staff of 1,500 and has realised a turnover in 2007 of 360 million euros.
